Shehee Closes Opening Round of 2021-22 Season in Strong Fashion

TJ Shehee birdied his final five holes on Friday to help UNC be tied for sixth at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Tweet, tweet, tweet. That's how TJ Shehee and the UNC Men's Golf team closed out their first round of the 2021-22 season on Friday. The junior from Mead birdied his final five holes of the day to shoot a 5-under, 67.
Shehee sits in a tie for second on the leaderboard while UNC is tied for sixth at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite. The Bears shot a 3-over, 291 on the day to be tied with UTEP. Nevada is just a stroke ahead for fifth place.
Northern Colorado teed off the back nine of the Eisenhower Blue Course. Shehee bogeyed his first hole of the round and shot a 1-over 37 through nine. His second nine was a different story. Shehee recorded six birdies over the final nine holes including riding the birdie train into the clubhouse on holes 5-9. He is one shot behind Jackson Solem of Denver for the tournament lead.
Jack Castiglia and Westin Pals each sit in the top 40 tied for 33rd with a 2-over, 74. Castiglia placed four birdies on his scorecard. Meanwhile, Pals had the most pars on the day for the Bears with 13.
