Scouting the Tigers
One of three Mountain West opponents the Bears will face this season, Colorado College was picked to finish right in the middle of the pack at No. 6. In his 18th year at the helm of CC, head coach Geoff Bennett brings in a Tiger team that went 4-2-2 in the spring.
Like most programs in 2021, Bennett returns a healthy amount of players from a season ago, including one of his top goal scorers from last year in Jacqui Hand. Along with Hand, Colorado College welcomes back fellow All-Mountain West Second Team member Alexis Wessler.
CC has already played in two exhibition matches this season. After a 3-0 win over UTEP, the Tigers took a 3-1 loss to Denver in its first Colorado Cup match of the season.
History against Colorado College
UNC is just 3-16-1 against Colorado College and is 2-4-1 at home in Jackson Stadium. However, since reigniting the in-state rivalry in 2010, the Bears are 3-2-1 in its last six matchups.
Last Time Out
Speaking of Colorado Cup matches, Northern Colorado finally had its first taste of game action against an opponent in a different jersey last Saturday. A 2-2 draw had the Bears and Rams share the points, setting up an in-state derby for all the marbles when CSU travels to Greeley on September 2. Taylor Bray and Haley O'Nan each planted themselves on the scoresheet while 29 total players saw action in Fort Collins.
On this Day
UNC will be looking to even up its record (1-2-0) on August 19. However, it's worth noting the last time the Bears played on the date in 2014, they beat Colorado College, 1-0.
