Olivier extends his triple jump record, Bears perform well at Jack Christiansen Invite

UNC put together seven top 15 performances in the Big Sky this weekend
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Northern Colorado track and field went up the road this weekend to compete in the Jack Christiansen Invitational hosted by Colorado State. Northern Colorado continues to place itself all over the Big Sky performance list with seven top 15 performances in Fort Collins.
Melodie Leroudier kicked off the meet for the Bears in the 5000m run, this was Leroudiers first 5k race of her track season running a stellar performance crossing the line at 16:59.71. The run ranks her 13th in the Big Sky. Leroudier finished in second place for the meet overall.
Jesse Hayward led UNC to a victory in the 400m dash with a time of 49.58 which now places him 14th in the Big Sky. Hayward is also placed 13th in the Big Sky in 800m with a time of 1:52.97 which he ran last weekend in Sooner Invite.
The women's 4x100m relay team of Kelsi Schuetz, Wendira Moss, Ruby Ann Gregory and Olivia Whitaker won the relay with a time of 47.15.
Moss moved into the top 10 for the 200m dash as well. She crossed the line in 24.83 seconds to rank ninth. UNC went 3-4-5 in the race led by Moss.
Amber Johnson had a breakthrough in the 400m hurdles placing fourth in the meet to run a time of 1:05.80. With the altitude conversion, she just missed out on a top 15 spot in the Big Sky sitting in 16th. Teammate Craiesha Johnson was also not far behind to place fifth.
Welre Olivier had another big meet placing winning the triple jump and taking second in the long jump. He reset his Big Sky best mark in the triple jump with a leap of 15.84m. Tyler Thimsen was not far behind Olivier landing 3rd in the meet with a mark of 15.20m
Oliver's mark of 7.18m in the long jump not only earned him second place at the meet but put him eighth in the Big Sky for the event. Thierry N'Seboko rounded out the top 10 in the men's long jump hitting a mark of 6.23m.
Alius Evans closed the meet out in the men's pole vault with a personal best jumping to 4.72m placing third overall in the meet and is now ninth in the Big Sky.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado has one more tune-up before the Big Sky Championship. The Bears will head south on I25 to compete at the Air Force Academy in the Air Force Twilight Open on May 7.
