Jack Castiglia shot an opening round 75 Sunday
BOULDER CITY, NEV. – The opening round of the 2021 Big Sky Men's Golf Championship teed off on Sunday with Northern Colorado sitting in sixth place through 18 holes of play. The Bears shot an opening 27-over 315 on day one.
UNC's All-Big Sky player, Jack Castiglia led the way for UNC shooting a 3-over, 75. As the lone Northern Colorado player who has competed at Boulder Creek Golf Club, he showed consistency throughout the round that saw plenty of wind with 14 pars and one birdie. He is in a tie for fifth place on the individual leaderboard.
Three other Bears sit inside the top 30 in Blake Danni (T21), Logan Hensley (T26), and Westin Pals (T28). Dani shot an opening 7-over 79 with Hensley at 8-over and Pals at 9-over. Pals led the team with three birdies during his round.
Prenzlow's Perspective
"Other than Jack we struggled to adapt to the windy conditions! Our putting was not good and for the most part, our ball striking was not suitable for the wind. We really just need to come out tomorrow in a relaxed state and see if we can get things going well early. This team is very talented when things are going well, we just need to minimize our errors and play with confidence."
