UNC Volleyball trending up as the Bears end the regular season at Idaho

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado looks to keeps its four-match winning streak going as the Bears travel to Moscow, Idaho for two matches against the Vandals to wrap up the regular season.

Following Wednesday's first win of the day, UNC has now won three of four five-set contests this season.
Kyndall Feather is coming off her second Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week performance.
The junior from Sterling, Colorado posted a career-high 28 digs in a five-set win over Northern Arizona and averaged an astronomical 5.75 digs per set against the Lumberjacks.
Freshman middle blocker Lauren Strain earned her first start of her career in the Blue and Gold. Strain combined for 14 kills and seven blocks in the Bears' two victories over NAU.
Fellow newbie, Bronwyn Timperley dialed up her best effort this season, recording a career-high nine digs against Northern Arizona.
Rachel Hickman was downright unstoppable from the right side on Wednesday. The KU transfer matched her career-best with 17 kills in the five-setter and hit for .318 across both games. At the service line, the sophomore delivered her first two aces of the season.
Northern Colorado's aggressiveness at the service line has paid dividends. At 2.04 aces per set, the Bears rank first in the Big Sky and 11th in the nation.
Senior setter Daisy Schultz has this offense rolling. UNC hitters are No. 1 in the conference in kills per set and No. 73 in the country with 13.20.
Last Time Out
In a marathon of volleyball, Northern Colorado bested Northern Arizona twice in the same day. The Bears rattled off five straight sets over the Lumberjacks, securing the five-set victory in the afternoon and then sweeping NAU later that evening.
Kyndall Feather's defensive performance earned her a second Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week award and set up the likes of Rachel Hickman, who matched her career-high of 17 kills.
Scouting Idaho
Idaho was picked to finish sixth this year in the Big Sky preseason poll and are 6-8 overall and 5-7 in conference play entering the final weekend of the regular season.
The Vandals' longest-tenured head coach Debbie Buchanan returns for her 21st year at the helm of Idaho. In 2021, UI's strength has been up front. Idaho ranks No. 1 in the conference in Blocks at 2.52 per set. Redshirt-junior Nikki Ball is second, individually, in the Big Sky with 1.39 per set.
History Against the Vandals
Bragging rights are on the line as Northern Colorado and Idaho enter the weekend tied at seven wins apiece all-time.
Looking Ahead
Northern Colorado will await its seeding for the Big Sky Tournament, hosted in Greeley next week. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 31.
