Bears sweep past Sacramento State
2/7/2021 3:18:00 PM | Women's Volleyball
GREELEY, Colo. – No doubt about it! Northern Colorado Volleyball came to play Sunday afternoon, dominating right from the first serve and sweeping Sacramento State, 3-0 (25-8, 25-18, 25-17).
The Hornets had entered the Bank of Colorado as the top serving team in the Big Sky but the Bears seemed determined they are just as lethal from the service line.
Three of UNC's 11 aces came in the first set alone as Northern Colorado raced out to a 16-3 run to open the match.
Daisy Schultz and Michaela Boon tag-teamed the impressive serving effort. Both finished the afternoon with three aces, followed by Kyndall Feather with two. Laura Katarzynski, Syd Cole and Taylor Muff all finished with one apiece.
After notching her first and second double-doubles last weekend at Eastern Washington, outside hitter Taylor Muff made it three straight on Sunday, tallying 11 kills and 10 digs.
Daisy Schultz kept the Hornets guess all afternoon long, distributing attacking opportunities left, right and center.
Rachel Hickman racked up another eight kills, hitting a team-high .438 for the match. Lauren Hinrichs collected another six while Kailey Jo Ince and Daisy Schultz each ended with four.

Boon was also pivotal on the defensive side of the ball. Targeted 10 times on serve-receive, the sophomore refused to commit an error, letting her offense go to work.S2 | ACE for Michaela Boon! #BearsStrong #BigSkyVB pic.twitter.com/BnaFrpG63Y
