Bears back on the road eying bounce-back win against Bengals

GREELEY, Colo. – Looking to get back in the win column, Northern Colorado sets its sights on Pocatello, Idaho for two matches against the Bengals this weekend.
Who: Northern Colorado (7-3, 7-3) vs. Idaho State (4-6, 2-6)
When: February 28 & March 1 | 2 p.m. & 6 p.m. MT

Quick Sets
Northern Colorado is looking to get back on track after losing back-to-back matches for the first time this season and the first time since dropping two in a row against Santa Clara and Colorado State in September of 2019.
The Bears' block came to life against the Wildcats, recording double-digit block totals in back-to-back matches for the first time this season, including a season-high 14 on Monday.
Speaking of blocks, Taylor Muff, Lauren Hinrichs, Kailey Jo Ince, Rachel Hickman and Cece Huhn either tied or set a new career-high in total blocks.
UNC continues to be one of the best serving teams in the Big Sky and the nation. Entering this weekend, the Bears 1.97 aces per set rank second in the conference and 25th in the country.
The offensive weapons senior setter Daisy Schultz has to operate with has the Northern Colorado offense near the top of every statistical category. With 10.18 assists per set, Schultz ranks No. 1 in the Big Sky and has set up the Bears to average 13.05 kills per set this season. That mark is best in the conference and 85th in the nation.
Outside hitter Taylor Muff registered back-to-back double-doubles versus the Wildcats, totally a team-high six on the season thus far.
Last Time Out
Northern Colorado wasn't able to convert its two-set on Monday to earn a split against the conference leaders Weber State. However, the Bears did revive its block, showcasing the two best blocking performances of the year.
Scouting Idaho State
Second-year head coach Sammi Stuart had her team pegged 10th in the preseason poll. So far, the Bengals have split Big Sky series with Montana and Idaho with both of its losses in those series coming in five sets.
Redshirt-Sophomore setter Andri Dewey ranks as the conference's most lethal server, averaging .58 aces per set and totaling 43 so far on the season.
History Against the Bengals
Since the two programs first met head-to-head in 1980, the Bears are 19-13 against the Bengals. UNC has won two straight over ISU with its last loss coming in 2018.
Looking Ahead
Northern Colorado receives a scheduled week off before hosting Northern Arizona on March 14 and 15.
