UNC men's golf sits in 20th after round one.
PALM DESERT, Calif. – UNC men's golf teed off its second event of the season on Friday competing in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate over Friday through Sunday at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, California.
The Bears sit in 20th place after the first day of competition against a tough field. No. 28 Kansas leads after round one shooting at 14-under, 274. The Bears finished round one with a 25-over, 313.
Jack Castiglia had the best day for the Bears finishing at 4-over, 76. He two birdies on the day while struggling to find consistency with six bogeys.
Sophomore TJ Shehee placed four birdies on his scorecard to lead the team. He ended with a 7-over, 79 on Friday.
Prenzlow's Perspective
It was a tough day for the Bears. We looked uncomfortable on the course today. Tomorrow we need to relax and play like we talk about every day in practice, hit critical shots better and hopefully make more putts! Coming here I knew it would be tough to play well with us not being outside much lately due to the weather. This is a tough golf course and we need to adapt better the rest of the way!
What's Ahead
UNC will start round two of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. The Bears will tee off on hole 10 on Saturday with 8:50 am start time. Follow the second round on GolfStat.com.
