Bears Ready for Another Big Sky Battle Saturday

UNC men's basketball hosts Montana Saturday night
GREELEY, Colo. – Fresh off an thrilling overtime win over Montana State Thursday night, Northern Colorado men's basketball hosts Montana on Saturday. It is another key early battle in the Big Sky as both teams come in 1-0 in conference play.
Opening Tip
- Daylen Kountz recorded his sixth 20-point game on Thursday night with a game-leading 21 in the Bears win. He is averaging 18.4 points to lead the team.
- Kur Jongkuch made big plays on both ends of the floor in overtime scoring four of his 14 points and coming up with the game sealing block. He had eight rebounds an assist and steal as well in the game.
- Matt Johnson II continues to be a steady hand for UNC scoring 14 points to go with a team-leading four assists in the win.
- Dalton Knecht scored half of his points in the opening minute of overtime to help UNC start the period on a 9-0 run. He scored 10 points in the game.
- Northern Colorado extended its streak to four straight games with 10-plus assists. They had 13 on Thursday night.
- Montana started Big Sky play with a 65-58 win at Sacramento State Thursday.

Scouting the Griz
After starting the season slow, Montana enters Saturday winners of four of their past five games including a 65-58 win over Sacramento State on Thursday.
Per usual the Griz are a tough defensive team allowing opponents to just score 63.4 points per game to rank second in the Big Sky.
On the offensive end, Josh Bannan and Brandon Whitney lead the Griz in scoring with 12.1 and 11.0 ppg.

Thursday night marked the beginning of Big Sky play for the 2021-22 season. Along with the Bears, Portland State, Southern Utah, Montana and Weber State picked up wins.
