Men's Hoops Starts West Coast Swing Sunday

UNC Men's Basketball faces California Baptist Sunday night
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Men's Basketball continues the Abe Lemon Classic with a west coast swing beginning on Sunday. The Bears will face California Baptist at 8 pm.
Fast Break
- Daylen Kountz earned the Big Sky Player of the Week award after his strong start to the 2021-22 season. He averaged 17.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks while shooting 51.9% from the field. He won the Rainbow Classic MVP with his 20.0 points per game. Kountz is leading the team averaging 16.6 ppg to lead the Bears.
- Matt Johnson II continues to be a steady hand for UNC. He's averaging 12.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists. Ranking second in points and assists.
- Kur Jongkuch scored 13 points against Texas and tied for the team lead for rebounds with five.
- Bodie Hume became the fourth player in program history to reach 100 career blocks on Wednesday
- The Bears outshot Texas 43.2% to 41.0%.
- UNC continues to drain threes making eight against the Longhorns. They are averaging 9.8 threes per game.
- California Baptist started the Abe Lemon Classic with a 67-66 win against San Jose State to stay undefeated.
- This is the first ever meeting between the Bears and Lancers.
Scouting the Lancers
California Baptist enters Sunday's game undefeated at 4-0. CBU has played all four of their games at home.
The Lancers have five player averaging double figures scoring led by Reed Nottage at 17.3 ppg.
California Baptist was picked to finish eighth in the WAC. They are still in the transition to be a full time member of Division I.
