Men's Basketball Ready to Face Top 10 Texas

UNC men's basketball plays at No. 8 Texas Wednesday
GREELEY, Colo. – Fresh off a 40-point win in the home opener, Northern Colorado begins a four-game road trip on Wednesday. The Bears will face No. 8/5 Texas at 6:30 pm MT as a part of the Abe Lemon Classic.
Fast Break
- Daylen Kountz earned the Big Sky Player of the Week award after his strong start to the 2021-22 season. He averaged 17.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks while shooting 51.9% from the field. He won the Rainbow Classic MVP with his 20.0 points per game.
- Dalton Knecht recorded his first double-double in the Blue & Gold. Knecht scored 20 points and grabbed 11 boards against Colorado College. He made four 3-pointers and shot 60.0% for the game.
- Dru Kuxhausen enjoyed his first time inside Bank of Colorado Arena. The McNeese State transfer made eight 3-pointers, the third most in a game in UNC history, on his way to a 24 point game. He has made 15 threes already this year.
- UNC made 15 three-pointers for the second time this season on Monday. The Bears have sank 15 triples against Hawaii and Colorado College.
- Wednesday's game is the first of three a part of the Herb Lemon's Classic. UNC will face Texas, California Baptist and San Jose State for it.
- This is the second time Northern Colorado and Texas have played. The other came two years ago when the Bears opened the season in Austin.
- Texas is coming off a loss at No. 1 Gonzaga last Saturday.
- UT coach Chris Beard is in his first year leading the burnt orange.
Scouting The Longhorns
Texas is under new leadership for the 2021-22 season in head coach Chris Beard. Beard came to UT from Texas Tech. He brings in a talented group with eyes on a national title.
After easily handling Houston Baptist, UT went to Spokane, Washington and fell to No. 1 Gonzaga 86-74.
Three Longhorns are averaging double figures scoring in Timmy Allen (13.0), Marcus Carr (10.5) and Courtney Ramey (10.0).

Northern Colorado continues the Abe Lemon Classic on Sunday with a California swing at California Baptist Sunday and San Jose State on Tuesday.
