Quick Sets
Northern Colorado has been one of the best serving teams in the Big Sky Conference in 2021. Along with Laura Katarzynski, who keeps adding to her Division I record, UNC's servers are averaging 1.65 aces per set, good enough for second-best in the conference.
Junior defensive specialist Michaela Boon has added her name to the list of lethal servers in the back row. With four aces against Idaho, the Cortland, Nebraska native tied a career-high as the Bears went on to overpower the Vandals.
Daisy Schultz and Syd Cole have both made sure the UNC offense has been running at full throttle. As a team, the Bears rank No. 1 in the Big Sky in team kills (932), kills per set (13.13) and assists per set (12.13). Individually, Schultz paves the way with 9.69 assists per set.
Following two sturdy defensive performances versus Idaho and Eastern Washington, Northern Colorado now leads the Big Sky in opponent hitting percentage at .184. With a pesky block up front, Kyndall Feather and Laura Katarzynski have found their way to 222 and 206 digs, respectively.
Sacramento State will be a welcomed sight for head coach Lyndsey Oates and the Bears. The last time UNC was in the Hornets Nest, Northern Colorado strutted home with the Big Sky tournament title.
Last time out
Northern Colorado continued its winning ways at home inside the Bank of Colorado Arena with victories over Idaho and Eastern Washington. The Bears served up a season-high 11 aces against the Vandals while Daisy Schultz posted her third double-double of the season in the win over the Eagles.
Scouting Sacramento State
Ruben Volta enters her 15th year at the helm of the Hornet volleyball program. Having already taken down their rivals across the Cosway, Sacramento State eyes to get back to .500 in Big Sky play this weekend.
As a team, Sacramento State ranks as the best blocking team in the conference with 2.43 per set. That mark is also good enough for 52nd in the nation. Tiyanane Kamba-Griffin is the Hornets' main enforces, dialing up 1.05 blocks per set.
History against the Hornets
Historically, the Bears and Hornets have treated fans to exciting matchups. UNC is 17-14 versus Sacramento State, winning four of the last five matchups.
Scouting Portland State
The Vikings' difficult non-conference schedule has appeared to pay dividends in Big Sky matches this season. PSU enters the weekend tied for second in the conference standings with the Bears.

Snook's back row prowess, combined with the blocking effort of Genevieve Florig. The redshirt senior leads the team with 75 blocks at a rate of 1.04 per set.
History against the Vikings
Despite the fact that UNC has won five straight matchups over Portland State, it's the Vikings who've had the upper hand in the all-time series.
