Men's Golf Picks Up Second Straight Second Place Finish

TJ Shehee and Jack Castiglia finished tied for fourth
LAS CRUCES, NM – UNC Men's Golf earned its second straight second place finish to conclude the fall season at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico State. The Bears shot a 15-over, 867 with consistent play over the 54-holes.
Two golfers finished in the top 5 and three inside the top 25. Jack Castiglia and TJ Shehee tied for fourth place with 1-under 212s for the tournament. Shehee was a birdie machine tying for the tournament lead with 14. After an opening-round 72, he went under par the next two with back-to-back 70s.
Castiglia shot a first round 75 but was in the 60s the next two rounds. He shot the best two rounds for Northern Colorado with a 68 and 69. While Shehee was a birdie machine, Castiglia was very consistent with 37 pars. Only Dino Degotardi had more for UNC with 38.
Degotardi was the other Bear to finish inside the top 25 with a tie for 24th shooting an 8-over, 221.
What's Ahead
The Bears head into hibernation for the winter not competing again until February 17-19 at the John Burns Invitational hosted by Hawaii. UNC will compete at Wailua Golf Club in Lihue, Hawaii.
