Men's Basketball welcomes Montana State to Greeley

UNC men's basketball hosts Montana State this weekend
GREELEY, Colo. – Coming off a road split against Montana, Northern Colorado men's basketball returns home to face Montana State on Thursday, January 7 at 6:30 pm and Saturday, January 9 at noon. While UNC has played four Big Sky games, these will be Montana State's first two.
The Bears will play in front of a small home crowd for the first time this year as the athletic department was approved for a small number of spectators for games. The spectators will be made of a group of family members of student-athletes and coaches. No tickets are available to the general public.
Opening Tip
- Northern Colorado played in a pair of two-point games against Montana, splitting the games against the Griz.
- Sophomore Tre'Shon Smoots scored a career-high 16 points in the Bears 64-62 win over Montana.
- Bodie Hume recorded his third double-double of the season with a 17 points, 11 rebounds performance in the second game of the series. Hume scored 14 points in the first game.
- UNC became the first team since the early 2000s to win three straight in Missoula. Weber State from 2000-03 was the last team to do it before the Bears.
- Northern Colorado went 2-0 against Montana State last year with a 68-59 win in Greeley and 75-61 in Bozeman.
- Montana State holds a 39-26 lead in the series between the two schools. The Bears are 16-23 when playing in Greeley.

Montana State is finally playing their first Big Sky game of the year after last week's games were canceled due to COVID-19 issues with Southern Utah. The Bobcats picked up a game against Montana Western defeating them 92-67 last week.
The trio of Amin Adamu (14.6), Xavier Bishop (14.4) and Jubrile Belo (13.0) are all averaging double figures scoring. Belo was a preseason All-Conference selection.
MSU was picked to finish fourth by the media and sixth by the coaches in the Big Sky.
Around the Big Sky
A week after three of five series were canceled, two more have been this week. The Eastern Washington-Weber State series and Portland State-Sacramento State series have been canceled due to COVID-19 issues with one of the teams in each matchup.
Meanwhile, Montana State finally plays its first series of the year against UNC.
Of the games, scheduled to be played, Southern Utah will put its undefeated Big Sky mark up against Idaho.
What's Ahead
As the Big Sky schedules ramps up, UNC heads to Moscow, Idaho next week for a pair of games against Idaho. The Bears and Vandals tipoff at 7 pm on Thursday, January 14 and 1 pm on Saturday, January 16.
