A late 19-0 run by Montana State led them past Northern Colorado on Thursday
GREELEY, Colo. – It was a game of runs between Northern Colorado and Montana State on Thursday night inside Bank of Colorado Arena. Trading blows for blows the teams exchanged the lead 10 times, but it was a key 19-0 run for Montana State that led the Bobcats over the Bears 79-67.
Despite the loss, Matt Johnson II put on a show behind the arc for the Bears going a perfect 6-for-6 from the field. He had a team-leading 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting along with three assists.
It was Johnson II's sixth and final trey of the night that put UNC up nine with 11:30 to play and momentum looking to have swung to the Bears' side before they ensued a seven-minute scoring drought.
While the UNC became cold, the Bobcats became hot making 7-of-8 baskets to take control of the game.
Down 11 with 3:49 left, Northern Colorado cut the deficit to five with 1:32 on the clock, but MSU closed the game out at the free throw line.
