Seven Runners Advanced to Indoor Championship Finals

UNC track and field has seven runners advance to the Big Sky Indoor Championships finals
POCATELLO, Idaho – The 2020 Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships continued on Friday with Northern Colorado having seven qualifiers for tomorrow's finals and a pole vaulter recording a PR. The Bears men's distance medley relay finished seventh to earn two points for UNC and Makenzie Pettit's fourth place finish in the pentathlon gives the women five points.
Antoine Coates qualified for the men's 200 and 400 meter runs. He had the second-fastest time in the 200 dash at 21.72. In the 400m he crossed the line in 49.11 for seventh.
Junior pole vaulter Liam Johnson recorded a PR on Friday with a vault of 4.62m to take 12th place in the event.
Four women's runners qualified for tomorrow's finals in Dorian Nesby (60m), Semaye Johnson (60h), Kelsi Schuetz (400m) and Gabrielle Ellis (400m).
Johnson had the fifth-fastest time in the prelims of the 60h with an 8.79. Nesby qualified for the 60 dash with a 7.70, just sneaking into the finals.
Schuetz edged teammate Ellis for the sixth-best qualifying time in the 400m by 0.01 seconds at 57.46.
Greg Laday was the only other men's track athlete to qualify for Saturday's final by running a 6.85 in the 60m dash. He had the fourth-best time of the prelims.
What's Ahead
The 2020 Indoor Championships conclude tomorrow starting at 10 am with the women's weight throws and men's triple jump. The running events begin at 12:30 with the women's mile. The meet will be aired on Pluto TV ch. 531 and live results can be found at this link.
