Bears Men’s Tennis Earns First BSC Win of the Season

PARKER, Colo. – The UNC men's tennis team notched their first Big Sky conference win on Friday afternoon as they took down the Eastern Washington Eagles 6-1 at the Parker Racquetball Club.
UNC began the day by taking the first win in doubles in the No. 3 spot. Nick Wade/Adolfo Arroyo took the decisive 6-1 win, and Thomas Pudney/Julian Kenzlers sealed the doubles point in the Bear's favor with the 7-6(2) win in the No. 1 position.
In singles play, the Bears only allowed one of their matches to go to three sets. Kyle Pease was able to win in the No. 1 spot after dropping the second set and finish off his opponent by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
Julian Kenzlers only allowed his opponent three points in his 6-2, 6-1 win over Mueller. Thomas Pudney was triumphant in the No. 3 spot, winning 6-3, 6-1. Adolfo Arroyo was consistent in his play, coming out on top in the No. 4 spot 6-2, 6-2. John Geisberts was victorious 6-2, 6-4 as the Bears finished the match only allowing one point to the Eagles.
The win moves the Bears to 3-6 overall on the season, and puts them at 1-1 in Big Sky conference play.
The team will play another match down in Parker tomorrow night as they take on another team from the state of Washington, the Seattle University Redhawks at 7 PM.
