Men’s Tennis Comes Out on Top Against Seattle

PARKER, Colo.- The UNC men's tennis team played well on Saturday to defeat Seattle University with a score of 6-1.
The Bears got a win in all three doubles matches of the day. In the No. 1 doubles spot, Tom Pudney/Julian Kenzlers won their unfinished match against Chan/Nield, 5-3.
Kyle Pease/John Giesberts also defeated Monroy/Weeldreyer in the No. 2 spot with a score of 6-2. In No. 3 doubles, Nick Wade/Adolfo Arroyo also got the win, 6-1, over Alvarez Sanabria/Schmassmann.
In singles play, two of the matches ended in just two sets. In No. 1 singles, Kyle Pease came out on top over Trenton Nield, 6-3 and 6-1. Tom Pudney also won the in the No. 3 spot, 6-1 and 6-3, over Emilio Monroy.
In the No. 2 singles spot, Julian Kenzlers forced three sets but ultimately fell to Colton Weeldreyer, 3-6, 7-6 and 4-10. The Bears took the victory in the rest of the singles matches with wins by Adolfo Arroyo in the No. 4 spot, John Giesberts in the No. 5 spot and Alex Exsted in the No. 6 spot.
"The guys played some great tennis at home this weekend to give us some momentum going into our road trip to Montana," said Head Coach Ben Gendron. "We were locked in mentally, physically, and emotionally."
The Bears will take this momentum as they match up against the University of Montana Grizzlies next Saturday at 3 p.m.
