Bears Baseball Prepares for Historic Weekend at Boise State

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Baseball will be able to say after this weekend they were a part of history, as the Broncos of Boise State are playing baseball at home for the first time since 1980. The four-game series against the Broncos will be the first in Boise in 40 years, and it will be the first time Northern Colorado plays the Broncos on the diamond in their storied history.
The four-game series at Memorial Field in Boise can be watched on the Mountain West Network (MW Network), as well as an audio-only stream. Links for the video stream, audio, and live stats can be found on UNCBears.com.

About the Bears
The Bears suffered close losses to New Mexico in Albuquerque this past weekend. The Lobos escaped with wins in the first two games by a combined two runs, 7-6 and 3-2, respectively. Sam Leach and Matt Burkart led the Bears offense for the weekend. Leach added four RBI's to the stat sheet for UNC, and Burkart hit four doubles on the weekend. Issac Bracken will continue to start on the mound for the Bears in game one of the series in Boise. The Bears enter the weekend with a record of 2-5.
About the Broncos
Boise State has resurrected their baseball team and begins play this 2020 season for the first time since 1980. The Broncos open an 11-game homestand when they take on the Bears on Friday. Like UNC, Boise State faced a top-25 baseball from Texas to open their season. The Broncos are still looking for their first win on the season after the #22 Texas Longhorns defeated the Broncos in all three games of the weekend to put them at 0-3.
What's up Next
Northern Colorado baseball will finally get off the road next weekend when they host their home opener against North Dakota State at Jackson Field. The first game of the four-game series between the Bears and the Bison will be on Friday, March 6 at 2 PM.
