UNC Men’s Tennis Narrowly Defeated by ISU to Begin BSC Play

PARKER, Colo. – UNC men's tennis hosted Idaho State Saturday night for not only their Big Sky conference play opener, but their first home match of the season at the Bears new indoor facility, Parker Racquetball Club. The Bears lost in a very tight battle with the Bengals 5-2.
In doubles, Kyle Pease/Julian Kenzlers fell to Fynn Lohse/Lukas Ridemar 6-2. Nick Wade/Thomas Pudney evened things up by taking a win over Gary Rendek/Patrick Trhak 4-3. Idaho State claimed the doubles point with a win over Adolfo Arroyo/John Geisberts 6-1.
In singles play, Thomas Pudney continues to pick up wins on the season, adding another one today with a three-set thriller over Gary Rendek 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. John Geisberts added the other point for the Bears with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win over Kyler Hartman.
Kyle Pease played a hard-fought three set battle with Lukas Ridemar, falling 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Julian Kenzlers fell 6-4, 6-1, and Adolfo Arroyo fell 6-4, 6-0.
Coach Gendron gave his thoughts after the match,
"Idaho State played a great match. They came out strong in doubles and held us off in singles as we came out with a strong push to make the comeback."
The Bears take a break from matches next week before they host Big Sky conference opponent Eastern Washington on Friday February 28th.
