GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado welcomes familiar foe Denver back to the Bank of Colorado Arena Tuesday evening, searching for its first win in the early 2020-21 season.

Opening Tip
The Bears will be looking to avenge the loss from last season, 74-55, down in Denver. Northern Colorado had a five-game win streak against the Pioneers before falling to DU.

Sophomore guard Jasmine Gayles has been a true bright spot for the Bears early this season. Sunday against Omaha, Gayles poured in a game-high 19 points. The Seattle native is averaging 15.5 points per game.

First-year head coach Doshia Woods returns 10 letterwinners and welcomes five newcomers to a team that finished 15-15 a season ago. The Pioneers were tabbed to finish seventh in the Summit League Preseason Rankings.

Sophomore guard Mele Finau notched career highs in points (9) and rebounds (7) against Omaha, not to mention a clutch game-tying three in the final minute.

Scouting the Pioneers
Denver opened its season with a 72-56 victory over Air Force. First-year head coach Doshia Woods inherits a roster with 10 returning letterwinners, including sophomore guard Meghan Boyd. Boyd blew the Falcons away in their matchup, pouring in a team-high 20 points to go along with her five rebounds.

History against Denver
The margin between UNC and DU has been close throughout the history of the in-state rivalry. Northern Colorado enjoys a 26-23 mark heading into Tuesday's contest, though Denver bested the Bears, 74-55, a season ago. Before that loss, UNC had won five straight.

Against the Conference
It's the second straight matchup for UNC against the Summit League. The Bears will be looking to improve upon its record. After Sunday's loss to Omaha, Northern Colorado has an 87-144 record when facing the Summit League.

On This Date
The Bears are an even 6-6 on December 1. Notably, UNC took down Colorado State, 65-56, on this day in 2009.
