UNC Unable to Take Down SMU

Dallas, Texas –Around this time last year, the UNC men's tennis team was celebrating coming into SMU Tennis Complex and taking a win over SMU. However, SMU was able to defend their home court this time around from the Bears with a 5-2 win on Saturday.
In doubles play, the Bears fell in the No. 1 and No.2 spot to give SMU the point. Kyle Pease/John Geisberts fell 6-1, and Adolfo Arroyo/Nick Wade fell 6-4.
Thomas Pudney/Julian Kenzlers were tied at 5-5 with their opponents in the No. 1 spot before SMU won the doubles point and the match was stopped.
In singles play, SMU was able to take the first three sets over the Bears with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Nick Wade, a 6-4, 6-4 win over Kyle Pease, and a 6-2, 6-2 win over Adolfo Arroyo.
Julian Kenzlers was able to get the first point for the Bears with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 3 spot.
SMU clinched the match with a win in the No. 5 spot over John Geisberts 6-4, 6-3.
Thomas Pudney added a second point for the Bears with a win in the No. 6 spot 4-6, 6-3, 10-5.
The Bears did not leave Dallas empty handed, as they split their two weekend matches at the SMU Tennis Complex.
UNC will come back to Colorado this week and prepare for a three-match weekend in Colorado Springs that will have them face Bryant on Friday, Air Force on Saturday, and Colorado College on Sunday.
