Spring Season Opener a Sweep for Bears Men’s Tennis

DALLAS, TEXAS– You couldn't have asked the Bears Men's Tennis team to kick off their spring season in a more impressive fashion, sweeping the Prairie View A&M Panthers 7-0 in their Friday morning match.
Doubles play resulted in 7-5 wins for both the No. 1 pairing of Julian Kenzlers/Thomas Pudney and the No. 2 pairing of Kyle Pease/John Geisberts. The No. 3 pairing of Adolfo Arroyo/Nick Wade won by forfeit.
Julian Kenzlers was the first Bear in singles play to finish his business with a two-set win 6-2, 6-2. John Geisberts was next in line with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 win in the No. 4 spot. Nick Wade ended his match with a two-set win 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 5 spot.
Kyle Pease battled in his No. 1 duel and came back from losing the first set 4-6 to take the win going 6-2, 12-10 in the final sets. Adolfo Arroyo had a three-set comeback of his own, winning 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 in the No. 2 spot. Thomas Pudney won by forfeit in the No. 6 spot.
Today's match was just the first of the weekend for the Bears at the SMU Tennis Complex, the Bears will be up early again Saturday aiming to defeat host Southern Methodist for the second straight year.
