Welch Enters Final Round in the Top 5

UNC senior men's golfer Coby Welch seeks his third top 10 finish of the 2019-20 season
MADISON, Ill. – Coby Welch finds himself in a familiar spot entering the final round of the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational on Tuesday. The senior sits in a tie for fifth place looking for his third top 10 finish of the 2019-20 season. He shot a 2-under, 69 in the opening round and followed it up with an even-par, 71 in the afternoon. Welch is three strokes behind co-leaders Jack Vincent of Southern Utah and Tate Chumley of UT Martin.
As a team, Northern Colorado sits in 13th place, three strokes outside of the top 10. Shooting a 591 for the tournament, UNC shot an opening-round 297 and followed it up with a 294 in the afternoon.
Sophomore Jack Castiglia is the lone other Bear inside the top 25. He is tied for 22nd at 2-over, 144. After shooting a 2-over 73 in the first round, Castiglia responded with an even-par 71 in the afternoon.
