UNC men's golf enters the final round of the Ram Masters Invite in eighth place
FORT COLLINS – After day one of Pederson Toyota Ram Master Invitational at the Fort Collins Country Club, Northern Colorado men's golf sits in the top 10 coming in at eighth with a 13-over 573. The Bears shot a 285 during the morning round before shooting a 288 in the second.
Coby Welch and Jack Castiglia are once again leading the team sitting tied for ninth and 24th, respectively entering tomorrow's final round. Welch is 1-under shooting a 2-under, 68 in the morning before a 1-over, 71 in the afternoon. He had four birdies on his scorecard in the first round and added three more in the second.
Castiglia ended up with an opening-round 69, before shooting a 3-over, 73 in the afternoon.
Marcus Tait was the only other Bear to shoot par or better during one of two rounds today. He shot an even-par 70 in the second round to move into a tie for 40th at 4-over, 144 entering the final round.
Prenzlow's Perspective
We did a ton of good things today as a team but we just did not cash in on our good shots! We really need to come out tomorrow with a great attitude and see if we can get our putters rolling. Every time I watch this team it becomes more apparent that we have a chance to be really good. We just need to get better at cleaning up the routine things. It was great to see Marcus Tait play well in the afternoon. Coby and Jack were good in the morning but really missed some opportunities in the afternoon to put up a second good score.
