Men's Golf earns GCAA Team Academic Award

UNC men's golf named a GCAA Team Academic Award honoree for the second straight year
NORMAN, Okla. – For the second consecutive season, Northern Colorado men's golf proved it can not only do well on the golf course but also in the classroom by earning the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Team Academic Award.
The honor was announced on Wednesday by the GCAA to all men's golf teams that achieved at least a GPA of 3.0 in 2018-19. The UNC men are one of three Big Sky schools joining Weber State and Hartford. Northern Colorado earned the honor by having a 3.28 GPA. Overall, 193 teams across all divisions earned the honor.
Three Bears earned a spot on the Big Sky All-Academic team for 2019 in Li Chen, Jack Castiglia and Nick Sharp. Chen was also named the UNC Male Big Sky Scholar-Athlete of the Year earlier this month.
On the course, Northern Colorado won its second consecutive Big Sky title, holding off a final round charge from Weber State to advance to the NCAA Pullman Regional. UNC finished 12th at the regional to end their season including Coby Welch earning a top 10 individual finish.
