Pauley and Allen go deep but Bears rally falls short

UNC didn't make things easy over the final out. They loaded the bases and forced Utah Valley to go to the bullpen and Billy Moreland came to the plate as the winning run but was unable to deliver a walk-off grand slam.
The Wolverines jumped out with a three-spot in the second inning that put the Bears in catchup mode for the rest of the game.
Jack Pauley delivered his first home run of the season when he sent a pitch soaring over that pesky 416 marker in CF.
Lucas Allen had the best day at the plate of his short UNC career. The freshman catcher had an RBI double, for the second straight game, and hit the first home run in his Bear career.
BREAKING OUT OF THE BOX SCORE
- Moreland finished with two hits, a double and an RBI.
- Vela continued to swing a hot stick picking up two hits including a triple.
- Tyler Yamaguchi was back at short and had a double and a slick sliding stop and throw across the diamond to end the inning.
UNC and Utah Valley are back at it tomorrow in Game 2 of the three-game weekend series. Â
