Alex Wesley signed an undrafted free agent contract with the New York Giants
Another Bear is headed to the NFL, Alex Wesley agreed to terms with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent on Saturday following the conclusion of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Wesley will join former teammate, Kyle Sloter in the league as he's currently on the Minnesota Vikings roster.
A two-time All-Big Sky selection, Wesley is coming off his second consecutive 1,000 yards receiving season joining only Vincent Jackson to do so in program history. He led the team in 2018 with 57 receptions for 1050 yards and four touchdowns this season. The big year ranked him second in the Big Sky for yards per game (105.0) and third for receptions (5.7).
As a Bear, Wesley not only dominated on the football field, but also on the track. He earned second team All-America status last year in the 400 meter dash when he finished 14th in the nation. At the NCAA Championship, he became the first athlete in UNC history to break the 46.00 mark for the 400, running it in 45.91 seconds.
Three other Bears have their chance to prove themselves to NFL teams in rookie mini-camps. Jacob Bobenmoyer was invited by the Denver Broncos as a long snapper, while offensive lineman Fisayo Awolaja and defensive lineman Tank Terrell will both attend the New Orleans Saints three-day mini-camp.
