Bracken dominates leading Bears to a Sunday victory
4/28/2019 2:58:00 PM | Baseball
In desperate need of a win, UNC sent their ace to the mound for a rare Sunday start and Issac Bracken didn't disappoint. The junior righty tossed his first career complete game to lead the Bears to a win in the series finale against California Baptist, 6-1.
Bracken only allowed three hits and didn't walk anyone while he struck out six. The most impressive stats from the victory was the fact CBU only left one runner stranded on base to end an inning and he only faced two batters over the minimum.
UNC grabbed a three-run lead for the second-straight game when Adrian Vela went deep in the third inning with his second home run of the series and Sam Leach followed with an RBI double.
Having seen the offensive capabilities of the Lancers, the Bears decided to add on some insurance runs in the seventh. Back-to-back doubles from Braxton Inniss and Vela pushed the UNC lead to 5-1 and Sam Leach capped the three-run outburst with an RBI single of his own.
BREAKING OUT OF THE BOX SCORE
The win for UNC was huge as they get ready to host conference leader Sacramento State on Friday.
