Burkart and Zoba come up clutch in the 10th

The Bears got the scoring started in the first inning when the first three batters of the game reached highlighted by a two-run single from Adrian Vela. Two batters later Sam Leach added to the UNC lead with a 2-run home run.
Jack Pauley extended the lead with one of his three doubles, this one drove in Tyler Yamaguchi, which made it 5-0 Bears.
One of the biggest plays in the game came in the bottom of the fourth inning. CSUB had already scored four runs and had the tying run 90-feet away, but Burkart ended the inning when he threw out Tyler Jorgensen at the plate trying to score on a sacrifice fly.
UNC added single runs in the seventh and ninth innings.
BREAKING OUT OF THE BOX SCORE
- Pauley had three doubles and two RBIs.
- Vela had two hits and RBIs.
- Leach had the long ball and drove in two.
- Five of UNC's nine hits went for extra bases including four doubles.
- This was the 11th game the Bears have played that was decided by two runs or less.
The holiday adjusted series continues with Game 2 Friday night at 7 p.m.
