Bears come up short in attempt to win series

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – UNC sent its ace to the mound Friday night looking to win the series against Cal State Bakersfield. Issac Bracken went into the seventh and allowed just one earned run but was saddled with the tough-luck loss as the Roadrunners evened the weekend set with a 6-2 win.
Jake Gitter got the Bears on the board first with an RBI groundout in the first. Still holding that 1-0 lead, CSUB struck for a pair in the fourth. With two out and two on the Runners got the tying and go-ahead runs to second and third on a passed ball. Daniel Carrizosa drove them in with a single to centerfield.
The Bears tried to mount a rally in the ninth and with two outs Jack Pauley came through with an RBI single. UNC got the first two runners on in the eighth but couldn't advance them any further.

UNC still has a chance to win the series tomorrow starting at noon.
