UNC Wraps Up Fall Season In San Diego

Northern Colorado women's tennis closed out the fall season at the San Diego State
SAN DIEGO - This past weekend the UNC Women's tennis team traveled to sunny San Diego to wrap up the fall season. It was a big change in the weather but also a very big change in competition. The tournament hosted eight teams: San Diego State, Denver, Northern Colorado, Montana, Air Force, Stanford, UC Irvine, Eastern Washington and Drake. This gave the team a new look at play with different competition and excitement to compete against the best in the nation.
Redshirt sophomore Madison Wolfe advanced furthest in her respective draw, making it to the finals of the Gold draw but unfortunately, falling short and was defeated by Kuo (AF) 7-6, 6-0. On the way to the finals Wolfe defeated a pair of Big Sky foes in Mansouri (E.Wash) 6-3 6-3 and Goheen (Montana) 6-2, 7-5.
Two other bears also earned wins at the event as well in; Sarina Chhabra and Sandra Keta.
Keta picked up a big win on the final day against Palumbo (Drake) 6-2, 6-3.
Chhabra finished third overall in the Silver draw picking up wins against; Reguant (Montana) 7-5, 6-3 and Broussard (E.Wash) 6-4, 6-2.

"It was a good weekend for the Bears playing a tough tournament hosted by San Diego State against great competition. We had great showings by Madison Wolfe finishing second and Sarina Chhabra finishing third in their respective singles flights. We are learning and growing and getting better. Overall, it was a great fall and great way to finish the opening season and we are excited about what's to come for the spring semester for team competition. Go Bears."
What's Ahead
The Bears will go into hibernation from play for the next two months as they prepare for the spring season. UNC's spring season starts on January 19 when they head to Arizona to face Arizona State.
UNC's first home match of the season comes on January 26 against Air Force.
