Jack Castiglia tied for first place at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate
HIGHLANDS RANCH – For the second time this season Jack Castiglia tied for first place in an event, this time tying for first at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate. Castiglia was consistent all weekend long shooting three straight 68s to finish at 9-under, 204. He tied with Jackson Solem of Denver.
Teeing off on the back nine, Castiglia needed to sink a birdie putt on the par five ninth hole to close out his round and end up in the tie. It was his sixth birdie of the round and 16th of the tournament to lead it.
Teammate Coby Welch finished one stroke behind Castiglia shooting a 5-under, 66 on Sunday. The senior made the turn at 3-under shooting a 32 on the back nine where he started. He put three more birdies on his scorecard during his second nine to tie for the low round of the day. Welch has finished inside the top 10 of all four events he's played in this season and in the top five twice now. He shot a 205 for the tournament.
Behind the strong rounds of Welch and Castiglia Northern Colorado shot a 5-under 279 and finished the tournament at 2-over, 854.
Marcus Tait also shot under-par on Sunday with a 1-under 70.
What's Ahead
It's a quick turnaround for the Bears as they now head to the Mark Simpson Invitational hosted by the University of Colorado over October 7 and 8. The 54-hole event will take place at the Colorado National Golf Club. Live results of the tournament can be found here.
