HIGHLANDS RANCH – A trio of UNC men's golfers sit in the top 20 of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate after the first round of play at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club on Friday. Jack Castiglia, Coby Welch and Blake Danni posted strong rounds over the first 18-holes to help the Bears be in sixth place as a team.
Castiglia had a strong first round shoot a 3-under, 68 on Friday afternoon. The sophomore placed six birdies on his scorecard including a bogey-free back nine where he shot a 2-under, 33. It is his fifth round in the 60s this season and his fifth round under par.
Welch and Danni are tied for 20th shooting a 1-over, 72. Welch was consistent throughout the day with a pair of birdies on each nine. Meanwhile, Danni, who is competing as an individual at the event, had a strong opening nine as he started on the 10th hole shooting a 1-under 34.

Round two of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate for the Bears begins at 8:30 am. Northern Colorado will start the day three strokes behind fellow Big Sky team Weber State to enter the top five of the team standings. Live results of the round can be found by clicking here.
