Northern Colorado's Alex Wesley set for NCAA Champinships in Eugene
EUGENE, Ore. – Northern Colorado's Alex Wesley is in an elite class as he prepares for the NCAA Championships beginning on Wednesday, June 6 at the Historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. Wesley is one of 24 Division I Track and Field athletes to qualify for the men's 400 meter dash.
He earned the spot in the semifinals of the NCAA Championship by finishing in the top 12 of the West Regional two weeks ago in Sacramento, California. Wesley ran a 46.13 in the regional final to be the 10th qualifier from the region, after running a 46.70 in the preliminary round to advance to the finals.
Wesley will compete in the first heat of the 400m, starting at 7 pm MT. He faces some stiff competition in the heat including the current indoor 400m world record holder Michael Norman from Southern California. The semifinals are broken into three heats with the top two from each heat advancing to the finals plus the next best two times.
