Northern Colorado's Alex Wesley qualified for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon in two weeks
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Northern Colorado's Alex Wesley punched his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday by finishing in the top 12 of the 400 meter dash at the west regional. Wesley is the first Northern Colorado track and field athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Trevor Evanson in the high jump in 2013.
Wesley finished 10th overall with a new personal-best and school record crossing the finish line in 46.13 seconds. Southern California's Michael Norman ran the fastest time of the night at 44.67 seconds.
Cammy Sargent also ran in the finals on Friday, competing in the 800m run. Sargent's junior season concluded as she finished 23rd in the race with a time of 2:10.71. It was the second straight year that Sargent qualified for the west regional, earning her best career finish.
Wesley will be one of 24 athletes to compete in the 400m at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon on June 6-9.
