GREELEY, Colo.- Northern Colorado defeated Colorado Mesa 5-2 in women's tennis Thursday afternoon at UNC campus tennis courts. The Bears took the team doubles point, then received singles wins from the bottom of the lineup. At No. 3, Madeline Doherty won against Rebecca Osterberg in a close two sets 7-5, 7-5.

Sarina Chhabra took care of Taylor Hershey at No. 4 singles after losing the first set in a tiebreak 6-7(4), 6-2, 7-5. At No. 5, Carrigan Blanchard played one of her best matches of the year. She defeated Nicole Kitsuse 6-1, 6-3. Then Mana Koitabashi grabbed a win at No. 6 with a win over Georgia Hansen 6-3, 6-3.

Colorado Mesa proved strong at the top of their singles lineup. Kristen Kirby beat Tristen Bryant-Otake 6-3, 7-5, and Emily Beckley defeated Anna Battersby 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2. Raffa Mora was absent from the UNC lineup.

The Bears (4-7, 1-3 Big Sky) play Weber State Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Greeley.
