Kyle Pease and Alex Exsted Grab Singles Wins
VANCOUVER, Wash. - The University of Northern Colorado men's tennis team suffered their second defeat of the weekend on Saturday in a 5-2 loss to Portland State. The Vikings took No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to lead 1-0. Then in singles, Kyle Pease and Alex Exsted both grabbed a team point with three set wins, but Portland State took care of the rest, winning at No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5. Connor Finerty was close to winning his match at No. 1. He took the second set 6-1 against Nathan Boniel but could not muster as strong of an effort in the third set, falling 6-3.
The Bears (5-6, 1-3 Big Sky) will finish their swing through the Pacific Northwest tomorrow with a pair of matches against two brand new opponents. They will play Pacific University at 10:00 a.m. in Forest Grove, Ore. followed by Linfield College at 3:00 p.m. UNC returns home on March 3 to play Weber State. Portland State (6-4, 3-1 Big Sky) plays Seattle University next on March 2.
