Team Ends Month of February 5-5

FOREST GROVE, Ore. -The Bears picked up non-conference road wins against Pacific University and Linfield University on Sunday in Forest Grove, Oregon. Against Pacific, Northern Colorado won all three doubles positions and only lost one singles match to seal a 6-1 victory. In the afternoon, the Bears dispatched Linfield quickly by sweeping doubles and not dropping a single set in singles. UNC won the match 4-0.

With the pair of wins on Sunday, the Bears evened their weekend road trip at two wins, two losses, having lost to Seattle University 6-1 and Portland State 5-2. Kyle Pease and Alex Exsted were particularly impressive over the four-match stretch. Pease won three of four singles matches at No. 2 including a win against Avery West 3-6, 7-5, 10-7. Exsted also won three of four in singles and played up two spots from his usual No. 6 against Linfield, defeating John Lutaaya 6-1, 6-0.

The Bears (7-6, 1-3 Big Sky) return to Greeley on March 3 to face Big Sky foe Weber State at 2:00 p.m. before heading back on the road for three more matches. Northern Colorado has had a very heavy schedule in February. They ended the month 5-5 in dual matches as a team. In singles, Alex Exsted leads the Bears in winning percentage with a 8-3 record. In doubles, Kyle Pease and Tommy Smalley lead the team with an 8-2 record playing together. They were undefeated (6-0) coming into the weekend playing No. 2.
