Following a record-setting win at Wyoming, UNC had 10 days off before playing its final home game of the year. They had their sights set on breaking yet another record against Johnson & Wales. With five players in double figures led by Jordan Davis with 24 and a defensive effort that held the Wildcats to just 33 percent from the floor, UNC set a new program record for margin of victory in a 118-52 win.
RECORDS SET THIS SEASON
- Most three-pointers made in a single game, Trent Harris, 11.
- Jordan Davis became the all-time Division I scoring leader with 1,569 points.
- First non-conference team to ever win in consecutive seasons at Wyoming's Arena-Auditorium.
- Bodie Hume set a new single-game record for blocked shots with six at Wyoming.
- New largest margin of victory, 66 points, set against Johnson & Wales.
In addition to those new marks, UNC scored 126 points in the win over Colorado College, good for second most points scored in a game and they won at Magness Arena for the first time since 2008.
Back to the action in Tuesday night, Northern Colorado started to pull away early when Jonah Radebaugh scored eight points over a three-minute span. His first three put the Bears up three, his second triple extended the lead to eight and his layup had the Bears out and running.
Hume took over and picked up where he left off in Laramie, after scoring a career-high 23, he scored 15 in the opening 20 minutes that led all scorers and helped UNC build a 55-19 lead at the break.
Although the Bears started the second half with a 36-point bulge, Davis came out on a mission. He followed up his attacking dunk in the first half with yet another one when he sliced through the Wildcats defense with little resistance to make it 57-19. The senior who became the second all-time leading scorer in UNC history scored 10 points in the first five minutes before heading to the bench with his 24 points.
BREAKING OUT OF THE BOX SCORE
After scoring 15 points in the first 20 minutes, Hume finished with 17 added eight boards and had two more blocked shots.
Harris scored 21 points including four more three-pointers.
Radebaugh finished with 16 points.
Matej Drgon posted 14 points.
Kai Edwards had 13 boards including eight on the offensive end.
The Bears outrebounded JWU 52-18, which upped their rebound margin from plus 11 to +14. UNC has outrebounded all seven of its opponents this season.
SCHEDULE SAYS
The road ahead gets much more challenging starting with a road trip to San Diego to face the Toreros who are off to an 8-2 start before heading to New Mexico State who jumped into the mid-major top 25 this week with its 7-2 record.
