About the Game
Tuesday's game is first of three meetings between Northern Colorado and Air Force, and the first game of the series between the two this year. The Bears and Falcons were supposed to play last week on the USAFA base, before snow moved that game to May.
Scouting the Falcons
Air Force picked up a Mountain West series win at home this past weekend, taking two of three from UNLV at home. For the season, the Falcons are 14-16, and 4-11 in the Mountain West. When playing away from home, Air Force is 7-10. Once again this season the Falcons have some big time bats, led by Tyler Zabojnick and Bradley Haslam, hitting .413 and .398, respectively. As a team they are hitting .336, with seven of their nine regulars hitting over .300. The strong hitting pedigree has led to 233 runs scored by Air Force.
The Falcons have needed all of those runs as their pitchers are struggling with a 7.15 ERA. Only two pitchers have sub 5.00 ERAs in Ryan Holloway at 2.67 and Shawn Kelley 2.16 who both come out of the bullpen. Teams are hitting .329 against Air Force pitching on the year. Tuesday's starter, Nick Biancalana is 2-2 with a 7.50 ERA.
