Northern Colorado baseball returns home to take on Regis Tuesday afternoon
GREELEY - After enjoying a weekend without a game, Northern Colorado baseball returns to the diamond Tuesday afternoon when they host Regis University. The Bears and Rangers are scheduled for a 2 pm first pitch.

About the Game
Tuesday's game is one final tune up for UNC before WAC play begins this weekend against Sacramento State.Regis is stepping out of RMAC (DII) play to come to Greeley and take on Northern Colorado for a game. The Rangers are currently riding an eight-game win streak.
Scouting the Rangers
Regis has been on a terror, winning its past eight games to improve its record to 15-7. They are 9-3 in conference play under the leadership of first year coach Mike Siranni. The Rangers are coming off a weekend sweep of conference foe Colorado Christian, in which they went over the 20-run mark twice, scoring 21 and 22 runs. For the season RU is averaging 7.4 runs a game. The Rangers have some big bats and are hitting an impressive .317 as a team. Leading the offensive charge for the team is Josh Newell and his .462 batting average. He has 15 extra base hits, 25 runs scored and 24 RBI. He also has an impressive 10 walks to just nine strike outs this season. Four other regulars for the team are hitting over .300 on the season as well.
While the Regis hitters put up impressive numbers, their pitching staff holds a 4.87 ERA. Relief pitcher, Patrick Kenney leads the staff with a 2-0 record and 1.27 ERA in 10 appearances. He has struck out 28 batters while walking just four. Tuesday's starter Cobe Karhoff has a pair of appearances out of the pen for the season, going 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA in three innings pitched.

- Northern Colorado is coming off a two week road trip in which they went 2-4. The team ended up playing three two-game series against Nebraska, Omaha and Wichita State. The Bears swept UNO, while falling to NU and WSU.
- Tuesday's game is the last before WAC play begins this weekend. UNC is set to open conference season at home against Sacramento State for three starting Friday afternoon.
- UNC has a pair of players with hit streaks over 10 games. Cole Maltese has recorded a hit in his past 15 games, while teammate Evan Johnson has an 11-game streak going.
- This is just the second time this season the Bears will play at home. They hosted North Dakota State during the first weekend of March, taking three of the four games in the series against the Bison.
- Three Bears are hitting over .300 for the year in Jack Pauley, Cole Maltese and Evan Johnson. Pauley leads the trio with a .361 average, while both Maltese and Johnson are hitting .338 for the season.
- The long ball has been big for Northern Colorado this season, hitting 19 big flies so far. Seven different players have at least one home run, including Cole Maltese and his team leading five.
History Against Regis
Tuesday's game marks the 108th time Regis and Northern Colorado have met up. UNC holds a 74-33 advantage in the series, including being 43-17 when at home. Last season the teams played once last year, with UNC winning the game at home 9-4.
Schedule Additions
UNC has added a pair of games to its schedule, one on the road and one at home. The Bears will now be playing a doubleheader down in Denver when they take on Metro State on April 15 starting at noon. The team also added a game against first year program, UCCS on Tuesday, April 18 at 3 pm.

Conference season begins on Friday when UNC hosts Sacramento State for a three-game series. Friday's game is scheduled to start at 2 pm, while the remaining two at Noon on Saturday and Sunday.

UNC will compete in its first road conference series of the season over March 31 – April 2 when they head to Grand Canyon in Phoenix.
