FORT COLLINS, Colo. The Northern Colorado Women's Tennis team completed their three competition in the Jon Messick Invitational, hosted by Colorado State Sunday with many players seeing some on court success. On the final day of competition, the Bears earned a pair singles wins. Tristen Bryant-Otake defeated Barbora Klllarova (SD) 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 and Mana Koitabashi defeated Hannah Wich (SD) 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
Individual winners of the tournament were Pricillar Palermo (#1) from Colorado State, Alyssa Grijalva (#2) from Colorado State, and Ana Tkachenko (#3) from the University of Wyoming.
On day two, Raffa Mora and Tristen Bryant Otake teamed up to win a doubles match against Harsha Challa and Ana Tkacheno (WYO) 6-4. The Bears did not win a singles match but got a strong performance from Carrigan Blanchard who lost in three sets to Anastasia Bonderenko (SD) 1-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Having played in three invitationals this fall, including Wyoming, Air Force, and Colorado State, the team continues to gain valuable match experience as they head into the fall regional ITA tournament. ITA's will take place October 11th-15th in Salt Lake City, Utah and is an individual competition in which players can gain points toward their national rankings in both singles and doubles. The Bears then resume their schedule in January with a match against Colorado State-Pueblo.
