UNC women's 1ennis beat CSU-Pueblo 7-0
GREELEY, Colo. - The Bears put together a strong performance in their first home match of the spring tennis season, beating Colorado State-Pueblo 7-0 at Work OutWest Fitness Center in Greeley, CO. The 7-0 win matched the score UNC was able to put up last season against the Thunderwolves. Northern Colorado will be back in action on February 4th when they take on Metro State at 1:00pm in Greeley.

1. The Bears most reliable doubles team, Beth Coton and Remi Immler used consistent deep shots from the baseline and experience at the net to cruise to a 6-0 win against CSU-Pueblo's Bos and Matthews. Time of the match: 17 minutes.
2. Courtney Schulte and Ella Mora dropped one game en route to their No. 2 doubles win against CSUP's Dettman and Megilligan. Time of the match: 19 minutes.
3. At number three doubles, Anna Battersby and Marissa Baca jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead before surrendering the first game of the set. The Thunderwolves made the set competitive but ultimately the Bears prevailed 6-2. Time of the match: 26 minutes.

1. UNC's Beth Coton wasted no time jumping ahead 4-0 in her No. 1 singles match versus CSU-Pueblo's Matthews before dropping a game to move the set to 4-1. Coton ended up taking the first set score 6-1. The second set started with Matthews grabbing a break of serve in the first game when Coton elected to let a mid-court passing shot go by and it landed two feet or so inside the baseline. Coton exercised more patience in the second set to win more extended rally points and got back on serve at 2-3, eventually taking the second set 6-2. Time of the match: 58 minutes.
2. Northern Colorado's Anna Battersby played smart points throughout the match, coming forward on short balls and using her backhand slice on balls where she found herself well behind the baseline.
