@UNCO_MensTennis Returns Home for Pair of Matches this Weekend

GREELEY, Colo. – UNC men's tennis will return home to play Grand Canyon University in Greeley, Colorado on Saturday, January 28th at 2:00pm. This will be the Bears second weekend of spring competition and first home match of 2017.
Men's Tennis (0-2, 0-0 Big Sky)
Following their match against GCU on Saturday, the Bears will play Montana State on Sunday, January 29th at 10:00am.
Last Season: Northern Colorado finished 6-16 overall last season and finished 10th in the conference with a 3-8 record.
Need to Know: The Bears have not played Grand Canyon University in the last five years. Their matchup against Montana State will be the first conference match of the year. Last season, the Bears lost 1-6 to Montana State in Bozeman, Montana. Hayden Cramer is the only current member of the Bears roster with a victory against the Bobcats. He won playing doubles with Jacob Sheldon 6-2.
Good to Know: In their first weekend of spring competition, the Bears lost on the road to Air Force 1-6 and Abilene Christian 1-6. In the match against Air Force, the Bears picked up a pair of doubles wins. Kyle Pease and Cassell King won their match at number one doubles in a tiebreaker 7-6 (5) and Hayden Cramer and Alex Vakouftsis won 6-1 at number two doubles. Alex Finerty recorded the only win in singles for the Bears last weekend, defeating Abilene Christian's Henry Adams 6-3, 6-0 at number three singles.
Worthless Stat: The last Bear to beat Montana State at number one singles was Ben Gendron in February 2015. Gendron won in straight sets.
Scouting Grand Canyon: The Lopes are 1-2 this spring. They are coming off a 5-2 win last weekend against Incarnate Wood in Waco, Texas. GCU's losses came against Baylor (0-7), and UCLA (0-7).
Scouting Montana State: The Bobcats began their spring with a pair of matches against Seattle. They lost in their season opener 5-2 and then rebounded for a win the next day by the same score.
