Finerty Wins in Straight Sets but Bears Lose

USAFA – The Bears got a strong performance at No. 3 singles from Connor Finerty but did not manage to win at any other position in the lineup, losing 6-1 to Abilene Christian at Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Finerty put together a 6-3, 6-0 win against Abilene Christian's Henry Adams, a day after losing 6-4 6-4 to Air Force at the same No. 3 position in interim head coach Ben Gendron's lineup.
The match looked like it was going to be close initially in doubles, but the Bears lost close matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles spots. ACU's Nico Agritelley and Henry Adams defeated Northern Colorado's Kyle Pease and Cassell King at the No. 1 double 6-4 and Jonathan Sheehy and Josh Sheehy defeated UNC's Alex Vakouftsis and Hayden Cramer in a tiebreaker 7-6. Augstin Lombardi also played a strong singles match against the Wildcats Jonathan Sheehy winning the first set 6-3 before dropping the second and third 6-3, 6-3.
