Seattle defeated Northern Colorado baseball 10-3 in Friday's series opener
SEATTLE – The Northern Colorado (15-27, 10-8 WAC) baseball team dropped its opening game of the three-game series with Seattle University (31-18, 17-5 WAC) Friday night 10-3. The loss snaps UNC's seven-game WAC win streak.
How It Happened
Seattle jumped out to an early lead with a pair of runs in the first inning, and scored four more runs in the third to go up 6-0.
Neither team would score again until the sixth, when UNC would finally get on the board.
Dean Lawson would lead the inning off with a single through the right side, before moving over to third on a pair of balks by Seattle pitcher Ted Hammond. Ryan Yamane would take advantage of the runner in scoring position opportunity with an RBI ground out to short.
UNC would score another pair of runs in the seventh to make it a 6-3 game. The Bears would get a two-out rally when Payton Tapia, Rob Cashel and Nick Tanner hit back-to-back-to-back singles loading the bases for Lawson. He would deliver with a two RBI single to left field.
The Redhawks would put up four more insurance runs in the eighth to close out the game.
