Northern Colorado women’s tennis won its senior day match 5-2 over Idaho State
GREELEY, Colo. – UNC's women's tennis retreated into the warm indoors Saturday afternoon, and defeated Big Sky foe Idaho State 5-2. It is the team's second straight Big Sky match win, following a victory last week against Montana.
The Bears came out strong in the match sweeping the doubles matches, all by the score of 6-4. The No. 3 duo of Marissa Baca and Anna Battersby win today extend their doubles win streak to four-games.
UNC needed just three more points in the singles play to claim the match, and would do so plus some. Both Lea Krajcovicova and Beth Coton won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches in straight sets. Krajcovicova won by the scores of 7-6 (6), 6-3, while Coton posted scores of 6-1, 6-3 for the victory.
The backend of UNC's singles players performed well also, winning the No. 5 and 6 matches. Battersby took the No. 5 singles spot 6-2, 6-0 to extend her singles match win streak to four-matches as well. Lily-Ana Kreutzer played in the No. 6 spot also winning in straight sets 7-5, 6-2.
Even in Northern Colorado's two matches they dropped they took the first set, but were unable to hold on.
Senior Hilary Walters-West was honored before the match on Saturday, winning her doubles match with partner Courtney Schulte, but falling in her singles match 6-4, 6-7 (6), 3-6.
The Bears will close out its season tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. when they host another Big Sky opponent in Idaho at Workout West.
