Northern Colorado women’s tennis fell to CSU Tuesday’s afternoon 4-3.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Northern Colorado (7-11) women's tennis team headed up the road to Fort Collins on Tuesday to take on rival Colorado State (5-11). The Rams would squeak past the Bears in the non-conference match 4-3.
Colorado State drew the first point of the match by taking the No. 1 and 2 doubles matches. In the No. 3 doubles match, the pair of Marissa Baca and Anna Battersby extended their win streak to three with a 7-5 win.
In the singles play, Northern Colorado picked up wins in the No. 1, 4 and five matches. Battersby was the first Bear to earn a point for the team on the day with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Madison Porter of CSU. The win was Battersby's third in a row. Teammate Marissa Baca won her third singles match in a row as well with a 6-4, 6-2 decision.
The final point of the day was earned in the No.1 singles match by Lea Krajcovicova. She would defeat Lia Hernandez Soler in straight sets by the score of 6-4, 6-4.
The Bears will now return home for their final two matches of the season this weekend. It will start on Saturday when they host Idaho State and be followed up on Sunday with a match against Idaho.
