Northern Colorado women's tennis defeated Montana 6-1 on Sunday
MISSOULA, Mont. – The Northern Colorado women's tennis team picked up a big conference road win over Montana 6-1 on Sunday.
The Bears started the match out strong with wins by their No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches to earn the point for the team. The duos of Remi Imler and Beth Cotton along with Marissa Baca and Anna Battersby won by the scores of 6-2 and 6-0.
In singles play Northern Colorado would drop just one match. Hilary Walters-West and Lea Krajcovicova would win the No. 3 and No. 1 matches by scores of 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2, 7-5 to put the Bears up 3-1 and a point away from victory.
No. 4 singles player Marissa Baca would end up being the Bear to clinch the match. After falling to Cam Kincaid of Montana in the first set 3-6, she responded in the next two sets winning 6-4, 6-3.
In the No. 5 and No. 6 games, both Anna Battersby and Lily-Ana Kreutzer won in three sets.
The Bears will return to Colorado and take on rival Colorado State on Friday in Fort Collins before hosting Idaho State and Idaho next Friday and Saturday.
